The Ultimate Bikepacking Adventure

RIDING THE GREAT DIVIDE

It’s natural to dream of adventure. For me, the adventure got real!
The Grand Divide Mountain Bike Route (GDMBR) runs over 2,700 miles, from Banff in Canada to Antelope Wells, on the border with Mexico, traversing the rugged Rockies and wilderness on the longest off-pavement route in the world.

In summer 2025 I had the most incredible adventure, making 2,000 miles along the route; amazing scenery, amazing people and amazing experiences,  before crashing out in Del Norte, Colorado, breaking five ribs and ending the journey.

This is unfinished business, so in August 2026 I’m heading back to finish the job; starting in Del Norte, finishing the climbs of Colorado, then heading out through the desert and wilds of New Mexico.

I’m also raising money for Cancer Research UK. Sponsorship welcome!

ROBIN IS heading back in Aug '26

The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route was developed by the Adventure Cycling Association between 1995 and 1998.

The trail winds through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in North America, covering over 2,700 miles of challenging terrain. Follow along as I share my preparation, gear choices, and the incredible experiences encountered along the way.
